About Us

Amanda Marshall

Kleanza's Principal Archaeologist is Amanda Marshall, M.A., R.P.C.A., a registered Professional Consulting Archaeologist since 2001. She is a member of the Archaeology Society of BC and the BC Association of Professional Archaeologists. She worked as Field Archaeologist with Ecofor Consulting Ltd. and as Archaeologist for Golder Associates Ltd. before launching Kleanza Consulting in 2009. Amanda's area of expertise includes:

  • culturally modified tree (CMT) research
  • dendrochronology
  • coastal archaeology
  • aboriginal trail networks
  • traditional use studies
  • predictive modelling, and
  • First Nations consultation

Amanda also tends her small animal farm just outside of Terrace.

Yvonne Christensen

Yvonne Christensen has enjoyed a diverse career in business and project management and communications design. Her artistic background inspires her problem solving talents in business. As Project Coordinator, Yvonne ensures that Kleanza's work flows smoothly and efficiently for associates and clients. She also supports our marketing initiatives and administrative tasks. Her most recent passion is sailing the northcoast, so don't be surprised if she is aboard when you call!

Manda Palmer

Manda Palmer, M.A., holds degrees in Anthropology and Archaeology and is an associate member of the BC Association of Professional Archaeologists. Her sharp technical skills are the result of her diverse and extensive experience in field work throughout BC, including academic and mitigative excavations, survey, testing, mapping and CMT recording and sampling. Her strong lab skills, analysis and report writing talents are an asset to Kleanza and our clients. Amanda transferred her dedication from professional dance to Archaeology almost a decade ago, and she now enjoys the art of movement at her leisure, when she is not practicing the banjo or skiing.

Kody Huard

Kleanza’s first employee hails from Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan. Kody is finishing his Honour’s degree in Archaeology from Simon Fraser University and has joined Kleanza to gain hands-on experience in his chosen career. He is now an enthusiastic member of the Kleanza team!

Jo Brunsden

Jo Brunsden has her MA in Archaeology from the University of Reading, England and her BA in Anthropology from the University of Victoria. She is an approved Field Director with varied experience in British Columbia, Greece and England, and is a professional member of the BCAPA. Jo has provided Cultural Heritage reviews for civil works projects, forestry surveys, oil, gas and land developments. Her coastal experience has broadened her expertise in shell midden site recording, raised beach identification—specifically on Haida Gwaii—and clam garden identification.  She has extensive experience with CMTs throughout the province.

Jo currently resides in Smithers, BC with her husband Matt and two children Amelia and Finlay.

Jenny Lewis

Jennifer (Jenny) Lewis, MA (Universiteit Leiden), RPA, is currently working on her PhD in the Department of Archaeology at Simon Fraser University. For her dissertation, she is working with the support of the White Mountain Apache Tribe to investigate the archaeology associated with Fort Apache-Theodore Roosevelt School, a still-operating Indian boarding school in east-central Arizona. In addition to being an archaeological consultant throughout BC since 2006, she also works as a historical research consultant to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, researching former students' experiences at Indian residential schools in Western Canada. Jenny has planned and managed collaborative field projects with indigenous groups in Jordan, Belize, Canada, and the United States. She has also written numerous interim reports and is eligible to hold permits for the Interior of BC.

Jenny works out of the Vancouver branch of Kleanza Consulting. When not working in far flung areas of BC, she can be found bike riding, snowboarding, or learning to play the banjo along with Manda.
